Room 12

We checked into room 12 and began freshening up to go and meet friends, I turned on the light next to the bathroom and the lightbulb made a large popping noise and then began smoking. My husband heard the noise and then came to see the lightbulb smoking. We turned off the light right away fearing a fire might start. A couple minutes later we turned the light back on to see if it was working or broken and it was just fine and worked fine the rest of our stay. Weird...

Room 32

My husband and I arrived in our room about 3:30 pm. Immediately upon entering our room I felt a strange feeling, I could hardly breath and felt uneasy. We went on the Ghost Tour that eve and took an ebormous amount of photos in hallways, rooms on the 3rd/4th floors. After viewing the photos we noticed a woman's figure from Room 37B where the guide told us a woman had jumped to her death. The image is very distinctly a woman. We will send back copy to Grand Hotel.

Room 40

We were here 2 years ago and came back for a repeat performance. We also stayed in the same room '40' to see if the baby powder smell would reoccur - but not this time. 2 years ago, before the ghost tours and increased tourism, we came up for our 1st visit to Jerome. We took tons of evening shots, inside the hotel, outside, and our own little journey through town after dark. We didn't see anything obvious on the photos until we returned home and uploaded them onto the computer. What we discovered truly took us by surprise. We had a clearly defined outline of a nurse under the arch on the front porch (Asylum) (Shot taken after closing), white cap and dress but no feet or face. We also captured Claude at the back of the hotel (all black, short, and hunched). We had orbs in nearly every photo. I had taken a tape recorder at the time and later discovered voices (whispers) of children saying "There goes Debrillion!" at the base of the hill before crossing over to the 'Haunted Hamburger' and a male voice that whispered "yes". This time we have yet to capture anything more than orbs in our photos but we did catch whispers in the elevator (clearly male) that said "Yes! Everything's Irish!" Was Claude Irish? I don't know but creepy just the same. Oh, and we had a party going on in the room next to us until after midnight but were told nobody was in that room. Explain that one.

Room 10

Me, my sister and my grandparents spent the night in room #10. Whether the things I'm about to write were because of ghosts, or just our imaginations running wild I have yet to decide. When we left to go out and eat, I had everything very precise. When we got back, the lipstick I had left out was turned slightly, my tweezers were no longer IN my makeup bag, but NEXT to it, and the window was open, which everyone remembers it being closed. Later that night, while watching tv the channel changed itself. I mistook like 4 lights for orbs, and... while in bed I heard feet shuffling. That scared me the most. I also heard (I think) the sound of "cheers" at a coctail party, and three keys on the "broken" organs being pushed. AND THEN at around 4:00 am I was abruptly woken up by my grandmother who was frantically saying "K.! THE DOOR KEEPS OPENING AND CLOSING!" I sat upright as she walked to the door and said "Who's there?!?"
Meanwhile I'm like peeing my pants I'm so scared. Turns out it was grandfather coming back from smoking. These things could have been ghosts, or our imagination running wild. I don't know. But it was a thrilling night. ENJOY YOUR STAY!

Thanks Jerome-

Room 26

Elevator sounded like it was going up and down, but when we check, it was still on our 2nd floor. Heard like a loud wind storm coming down the hall, then it got quiet and the door knob started rattling and stopped suddenly. Tried an experiment on the 4th floor, left candy on table next to organ, after an hour, checked on it and it was moved. After 11:00 pm is the most activity. We really enjoyed our stay in the xpray room!

Thanks -

Room 39AB

We had gone ghost hunting for a while when we came back to our room. I heard a cat meow on our floor. A couple hours later there was a depression on our bed. It had looked like a cat had burrowed itself on the bed!!! It was creepy! We had stayed with the K. family and the candy was weird!! It moved by itself and we got a picture of what could be an apparition. Lots of orbs.

Night Audit Report

Another quiet night as far as guests go, but when I was in the back storage room I heard several loud and deliberate bangs. They sounded as if they came from the next room. It was rather unsettling, and I still have the tingles a half an hour later. I've walked by the room several times since then, and each time I walk by the door I get the chills.

Night Audit Report

Last night while working in the lobby, I kept hearing keys jingle from the gift shop. The sound was loud, clear and unmistakeable. I checked it out several times, and there wasn't anyone "living" around. I would have thought nothing of it, but there have been several reports by guests lately that involve keys ringing.

Night Audit Report

There are only two rooms in house tonight, so hopefully I will have something interesting to post before the night is over. I have a lot of experiences that guests have told me since I started, as well as things that have happened to me that I have been trying to figure out how to post. I can't remember room numbers or dates, but the details of the events themselves are still pretty fresh in my head. So I think I'll just relate them the best I can, mark them as 3rd hand where applicable, and let them stand on their own.

One morning a guest came down and during our conversation he told me that he almost came down to see if he could get put into another room. As he lay down to go to sleep, he felt pressure on his chest as though someone was pushing him down. He heard the words "The bedding is for the patients." The temperature in his room rose so much that he had to open a window and abandon his blanket. This was at about 2 in the morning, and although it was wintertime, I had shut the boiler off about an hour before his experience.

Conversations In The Boiler Room

With only a few rooms in house last night, it was very quiet. As I was walking through the boiler room, I heard a faint conversation. It was only in a very small area that I could hear it, and it was too faint for me to make out the topic of conversation, but I could hear it. I checked the laundry room, because sometimes a radio is left on, and it can sound like talking; but it was turned off. For several minutes I heard it, and finally it trailed off. Could it have been workers from the buildings hospital era discussing repairs? I can't say, but it was pretty creepy.

Tonight we don't have anyone booked in the hotel so far, so it could be very quiet. If it remains that way, I hope to get a few pictures of the empty building. Maybe I will even try to get my hands on a tape recorder. With no one in the building, I would know for sure that it wasn't a "living" being on the tape.

Quiet

I had a couple of days off and it was pretty busy last night, so I haven't had a chance to see if any guests had any experiences the last few days, but hopefully I will get to it tonight. We had some amateur ghost hunters last night, and I'll find out from them if anything happened. Pretty quiet ghost-wise from the front desk, although the front door kept wiggling. It could have been the wind, but it seemed pretty still up here.

I hope to get some pictures on the site as quickly as possible, although I don't seem to have a lot of time to get good ones. Maybe someone who has stayed here and captured a good picture will e-mail it to me, as I've seen some really good ones that I'd love to include.

Where possible I have been going through the book where people write down any ghostly experiences that they had and adding them. The original book was stolen, but the new one goes back to the winter of '08, so it's better than nothing. I hope to begin to see a pattern of what goes on in each of the individual rooms.

There are a couple of old stories, including a couple of suspicious deaths and at least one suicide that took place in the buildings past, and I will tell them fully at a later date.

Room 31/33

Stayed in room 31/33 the first night. We woke up a 3:00 AM and heard a cat meow. Took pictures around the hotel and caught a lot of orbs. Second night we heard voices in the hall. Took a tour with Haunted Tours. Ron was excellent on telling the history of Jerome. I caught huge orbs on buildings and a ghost at the High School. Wonderful stay! Plan to come back!

I was laying in bed and suddenly I heard keys ringing. I quickly yelled for my dad, then he came out of the bathroom and said, "Did you hear keys, then I explained my experience to him and he told me to write it in the book. PS - I'm only ten.

My Report

Mostly quiet tonight, although I keep hearing loud thud's coming from the higher floors. With only 5 rooms booked, and the late hour, I doubt it's guests. I have checked all the floors to try to locate the source of the noises, but the hallways are quiet when I'm up there.

Also, in performing my nightly duties, I have walked through several cold spots tonight. The air feels heavier and colder and a bit mustier in these cold spots than they do even a couple of feet away.

Mostly Quiet

39 AB

There were a couple ghost hunting into the wee hours of the evening. An exact report will follow shortly, however they did tell me before going to bed that they smelled ether very strongly in the entrance to the Grand Suite (Was originally the operating room). They said they got some pics, I will hopefully be able to update this more later.

Room 39AB

Room was relatively uneventful except for an orb on a room photo and while watching t.v. I was what appeared to be a cat pacing by the door - like wanting to be let out. Took the Ghost Hunter Tour and in many of the photo's appeared orbs throughout the hotel! Upon entering the Grand Suite a very strong odor of ether was present. Only to find out later that it was the operating room of the hospital - Makes sense!!!

Had a wonderful time - Staff at the Hotel were great. Will definately be back to stay in the Grand Suite!!!

First Post

I am starting this blog to document the (almost) daily occurence of odd activity in the place of my employment, The Jerome Grand Hotel in Jerome, Arizona. It is an old building, originally a hospital in a booning mining town. Since the '90s it has been and is still being renovated as a hotel. It has a longstanding reputation as a haunted building, as does most of Jerome. More and more people are coming, hoping to see or hear something.

In the future, I plan to have photographs, my personal stories, stories of guests, past stories related to the front desk staff, as well as an almost nightly update of the things that go bump during my "GRAVEYARD SHIFT".

Please feel free to e-mail me if you have stayed here in the past and have a story or experience that you would like to share. I would be more than pleased to include it, as well as any photographs that you may have captured during your stay.

I look forward to this forum, and perhaps we will eventually end up with proof positive of supernatural events taking place in the building.

Quiet

Most likely due to a lot of wedding partyers, no discernable activity was detected by me last night. That seems to happen when the guests are loud.

Room 23/25

We stayed in 23,25. It was me, my mom, and my friend M. We all went ghost hunting around 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM and we asked Bob if we could ghost hunt in the Grand Suite and he gave us the keys and we all went up there. Well we went into the bedroom right off the kitchen and my mom was feeling chills and when I walked in and it was already dark but I saw a human figured shadow but all the lights were off... Also in our rooms at like 2:00 AM we heard crying in the hallway.

Well, I loved our room and I really liked staying here and I would love to come again.

Room 37A

As we left the elevator, having just checked in, I saw something. We were beginning to walk toward our room, 37A, and as we turned to pass the elevator on our way to the room, for an instant I saw a man in a blue shirt at the extreme left of the elevator. I looked again and the figure was gone. I looked in the stairwell; there was no one there.

About 4 AM, I heard a very loud bang. My fiance was asleep, he did not hear anything. I looked out into the corridor, but it was empty. It was like a door slamming shut, but I don't think any guest was going into his/her room at that hour.

Throughout the night/early morning, I heard the elevator moving.

Room 36

We stayed in Room 36 - woke up in middle of the night, heard noises and felt something against my face - could have been the sheet or hair, stayed awake but didn't want to open my eyes. Also in the morning I hung my clothes in the bathroom to try to get the wrinkles out. I went out to get conditioner for my hair; when I went back into bathroom my shorts were crumpled in a ball under the sink - creepy.

Room 10

We came here for her birthday, M. I mean. She just turned 13. We took a walk in town and came to a spot where we could make a wish. My wish was that we'd have a real ghost experience, and we did.

First, we were roaming the halls. Once we climbed to the fourth floor, M. took a picture. There was a tall, blonde girl halfway through the wall!! There was no-one else on the floor with us, but, wow.

We also got some pics of an orb on the 3rd floor, coming closer with each picture! We heard moaning to our left, our heads snapped that way, and a shadow walked by on the wall, again we were alone.

We were on the 1st floor, room 10. M's mom was usually out, and we were in the room alone. We read our books, and a light flickered, followed by a "thud." We also had uneasy feelings, so, we had to get out of that room. We were gonna go to the lobby, and as we were walking out, being the only ones on that floor, we heard whispering to our left. It sounded like two women whispering. We ran to the lobby, then wanted to come back up, and heard whispering again, but on the opposite side. Creepy.

The night was pretty quiet. I heard squeaking of something and moaning, only to realize later that it wasn't a ghost. :

In the night, M. couldn't really breathe, and neither could I. I also heard two men talking, and the faintest "meow." Though, M. couldn't hear it.

We noticed ghosts come out more at day than night, for us, at least.

My name is A. and I came up with D. and her parents for her 16th birthday. We stayed in room 33 and her parents stayed in room 31. During our stay we saw and heard many things. All the pictures we took had "orbs" in them. Pretty spooky!! When me and D. went to the bathroom, we heard a sort of wheezing behind us, but when we turned around there was nothing there.

Around 1 AM we heard footsteps and people talking in the hall, but when we looked there was no one there. During the night also I awoke to feel someone tapping on my arm. I thought it was D. so I woke up saying what? But she was dead asleep. It scared the begees bout of me. In one of our pictures we took you can almost see the face of a boy in it. If you ever stay here you have to get room 33. Have fun!

My name is D. and I came here with my family and my best friend to celebrate my birthday. A. and I stayed in Room 33 and my parents stayed in room 31. Our room was freaky. Our t.v. kept turning on and off. The door kept opening while we try to shut it. We took a lot of pictures in our room and in the pictures there was a lot of "orbs" around us. Then in one of the pictures there was a face. Freaky. While we were trying to sleep we kept hearing people argue but when we look there was no one out there. Then we kept getting up because someone kept knocking on our door but no one was there. Then every single time we went into the bathroom we kept hearing wheezing but no one was there and last thing our window kept opening in the bathroom. Fun time.

Room Unknown

My husband T. and I stayed at the Jerome Grand Hotel in 1998. It was off season and it was our first trip as a couple. We were in a standard room and there were very few guests. At about midnight we heard what sounded like clanging and banging on pipes. Being more silly than brave we decided to walk about each of the floors. We concluded our walk about by taking the stairs to the lobby.

By the time we headed down the stairs we were convinced there was no haunting. As we came down the stairs we saw two men on the landing. It was the second landing up from the lobby. One man was wearing a grey mechanics style jumpsuit. He was kneeling on the ground with a leather looking bag filled with wooden handled tools at his side. With him was a second man with brown hair and a handlebar moustache. He wore a pageboy hat, slacks, long sleeve shirt and a vest. He was leaning forward and pointing to a hole in the wall the first man was working on.

As I reached the landing they both turned to face me. They appeared serious as both nodded as if to greet me in the way that courteous strangers say hello to each other. I nodded back and mumbled "good evening."

The night clerk was surprised to see someone up so late; or so she said as walked up and said "hi." "You're up late" she greeted me. I told her about the clanging on the pipes and the men on the landing.

She looked at me with a raised eyebrow and sternly stated, "There are no workers working on pipes or anything. It's midnight, I haven't seen anyone but you." I again stated my case for my insomnia. "I'm the only one here right now, nobody has been working on any pipes."

I head up the stairs, sheepishly. As I reached the landing I saw, no one. No tools, no hole in the wall. It was as if they'd never been there.

And so I've returned. And so I shall see if I see them again.

Room 41

We stayed in Room 41. We explored the hotel and heard singing on the 3rd floor in a room no one was staying in. We took pictures and got a lot of orbs in our pictures. We came back to our room and when we entered, immediately smelled baby. We were trying to sleep and heard a woman screaming in pain in the hall but nothing was there. Later we heard a baby crying. When K. was asleep she had a nightmare - woke up and thought she touched Adrie but when she opened her eyes, in thin air a lady disappeared. Great experience. Spooky but we had a blast!

Room 27

Our stay was awesome! We had several ghost experiences here. When we first got our equipment, we went ghost hunting right away. Our room got no readings from the ghost equipment in our room. When my mom was using the restroom, I decided to go ghost hunting on our floor (2nd floor). I called out, "Please show me your presence. I am going to knock on the wall 2 times. Please knock once or twice when I'm done." About 2 seconds after I knocked on the wall, I heard 1, extremely loud thud right next to me! We started ghost hunting on the 4th floor. We heard whispering coming from the hallway. The ghost meter went full blast near room 42 on the 4th floor! At 8:00, Bob let us in the boiler room in the lobby. When we were in the room where Claude Harvey was killed, there was an extremely loud boom a few feet away from us, but it was not a ghost. The startling noise sent my mom hurtling in the air and then grabbing for my arm. I saw a shadow dart down a dark corridor too. Bob let us have the keys to room 42 and our ghost meters went full blast in all of the room and the bathroom!!! When we told Bob about our experience, he told us that was weird. After we told Bob, we were on the first flight of stairs, when I felt a big scratch on my shoulder and it hurt!!! A split second after that, I felt someone shove me!!! I had the best time here! Thanks.

Room 42

Stayed in Room 42. Around 1 am my husband heard children. Around 5 or 6 am I heard a woman scream twice. I thought about what I had heard and it wasn't pitched high enough to be an upset child, it was deeper, an old woman's scream. Later, I heard what sounded like a cat meow. And then again later, I was lying on my stomach and felt a small thud on my back, but I definately heard it. Ghost? Maybe... Enjoyed the stay and I hope to return for the Ghost Hunt one day.
